Nila Jean Starkey

Nila Jean Starkey 82, joined the Lord November 7, 2025 Jeanie was born November 8, 1942 in Union City, Indiana and came to Arizona in 1952. Jeanie was predeceased in death by her son Billy Joe Starkey and her husband Glenn Starkey. They were married for 53 years. Jeanie is survived by her two sons Buddy Starkey and Jody Starkey, two daughters-in-law Wanda Starkey and Lisa Starkey, 4 grandchildren and spouses Justin Starkey (Christina), Jessica Varin (Jon), Danielle Starkey-Guymon (Scott), Brittany Lozoya (Jon) and 7 great grandchildren, Hunter, Emma, Mila, Jayden, Jacob, Makaylah and Savannah.
Jeanie had a lifelong love for horses and was involved in competitive stunt horse riding and barrel racing. Her favorite horse, Dawn, was by her side for over 28 years, and together they won multiple blue ribbons and trophies.
Jeanie and Glenn shared a passion for antiques and spent many trips back East attending auctions, often returning home to Arizona with a trailer full of treasures to refinish. Together, they refinished antique furniture for about 13 years.
Above all, Jeanie cherished family gatherings, holidays, and good food. She especially loved sleepovers with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, filling those moments with laughter, warmth, and love.
Jeanie will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her generous heart, joyful spirit, and the love she shared with everyone around her. To my Grandchildren, I know I didn't show it all the time but please know every time you laugh I will be smiling too, every time you fall I will be the whisper telling you to get back up, and every time you look into the stars that's me still loving you from above Grandma
