Nilima Trivedi

In loving memory of Mrs. Nilima Mayurkant Trivedi
August 8, 1938 - June 12, 2025
It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of our mother Nilima Trivedi, fondly known to many as "Nellie, Nunufoi, Nanima, Ma, and Cookie foi". On the morning of June 12, 2025, her light dimmed after a long and courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. She was surrounded by her children, their spouses, and her grandchildren.
Nilima was one of eight children born to Kulinchandra and Suvasini Majmudar in Vadodara, India. She earned a Master's degree in Food and Nutritional Sciences and taught at various universities in Gujarat. After arriving in the United States in 1983, Nilima worked as a clinical dietician for 30 years, and she took immense pride in her work. She was also an active member of the Tai Chi club at the senior center, participated in community singing groups, and was a voracious reader of Hindi, Gujarati, and English books. Nilima's other hobbies included playing solitaire, solving word puzzles, and watching her favorite TV shows and movies: Jeopardy, Columbo, A Few Good Men, Hunt for Red October...
Nilima is survived by her three children–Mita (and her husband Mihir), Richie (and his wife Mita), and Ketan (and his wife Deepika)–and 7 grandchildren: Kaeya, Sayani, Dhruv, Krish, Deeya, Dilan, and Maya. Throughout her life, she was a beacon of courage and resilience in the face of inconceivable challenges. She persevered through a scorpion bite, falling from a 4-story building onto concrete pavement, and necrotizing fasciitis (flesh-eating bacteria). To say she was a warrior is an understatement.
Nilima moved through life with grace and dignity, radiating love and laughter to everyone who crossed her path. She will be deeply missed by all of those who knew her, but we will honor and preserve her legacy.
The funeral Puja, viewing, and last rites will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 9:00 am at the Franklin Memorial Park, 1800 New Jersey 27, North Brunswick Township, New Jersey, 08902. We invite all who knew and loved Nilima to join us in celebrating her life and bidding her a heartfelt farewell.
