Mr. Nils Kingsley Bishop

Nils K. Bishop, age 75, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Shipley Manor. Nils was born to the late Jay Bayard and Alice Bishop in Camden N.J. He was raised in Chester, Pa and graduated from Chester High School in 1959. He joined the Air Force stationed in Illinois and served as a weather observer. Nils left the Air Force after 2 years and returned to his family in Philadelphia, PA. He moved to Wilmington, DE to work at Braunsteins. He then left there to become a manager and later a clothing buyer at James T. Mullins Clothiers in Wilmington. While there he did modeling at events around Wilmington and at the Rehoboth Christmas Shop. After leaving Mullins, he opened his own store called Kingsley Clothiers. Nils enjoyed acting at Candlelight Theater, playing golf and sailing with family and friends on the Chesapeake. Nils also was involved in the Talleyville Jaycees and was past president and a retired Rooster. Nils was predeceased by his parents, his mom-mom Elsa Paulander and his brother James Y Bishop. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jean, two daughters: Alicia (Carmine) Poppiti and Meredith Bishop and five grandchildren: Courtney, Joseph and Hailea Stockburger and Krystle, Samantha, Margaret and Carmine Poppiti. Nils' family would like to extend a very deep and sincere thank you to all the staff at Shipley Manor for all the wonderful care and support you gave them. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at 7:00 PM at Chandler Funeral Home, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803. Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation prior to the service from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers please make donations in Nils' name to your favorite charity or to Shipley Manor, 2723 Shiplet Road, Wilmington, DE 19810.
