Nimfa A. Ocasio, affectionately known as Nim, passed away peacefully at the age of 57 on May 30, 2025, in Crestview, Florida, following a courageous six-year battle with cancer. Born on May 9, 1968, in San Fernando, Pampanga, Philippines, Nimfa touched countless hearts with her extraordinary kindness, warmth, and generosity.
An epitome of strength and resilience, Nim not only survived the catastrophic Mount Pinatubo eruption in 1991 but also faced a formidable battle with cancer with unwavering courage. Married for 34 years to a now retired Air Force servicemember, Nim embraced the role of a military spouse with grace, supporting her family through numerous relocations and challenges. Her proud legacy includes four remarkable daughters, Maria, Melanie, Marisa, and Mia (13 YO) - three of whom follow in their father's footsteps by currently serving in the Armed Forces.
Nim was recognized for her exceptional work ethic throughout her varied career, earning Employee of the Month accolades four times. Beyond her professional accomplishments, she cherished home life, always filling her home with laughter and tantalizing aromas of her culinary creations. Passionate about cooking, she delighted in sharing meals with friends, neighbors, and especially service members who far from home found great comfort and warmth in her home-cooked delights.
Her caring spirit extended into community service, especially in gathering clothing donations for those families in need. Nimfa, through her generosity and laughter, ensured that everyone around her felt loved and valued.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Nimfa's life at a public viewing on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, from 5 to 7 PM at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home, located at 436 West James Lee Boulevard, Crestview, Florida. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Victory Church, 550 Adams Drive, Crestview, Florida on June 11, 2025, at 11:00 AM.
Those wishing to honor Nim's memory may contribute to "Remembering Nimfa Ocasio" on GoFundMe. The Ocasio family expresses profound gratitude to everyone locally and abroad for their love, prayers, and support during this difficult time, taking comfort in Revelation 21:4: "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away."
Arrangements are entrusted to Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home in Crestview. Guest book and condolences are available online at www.whitehurstpowellfuneralhome.com
