Nina Kidd Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by McKoon Funeral Home & Crematory on Mar. 16, 2024.
Matthew 6:21 reveals this truth: "Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." For Nina Stephens Kidd, she saw no better investment of her time and talents than in the lives of the people she loved. She was born December 29, 1927, and for the next 96 years, she remained true to that revelation. Nina Jane Stephens was born in Heard County Georgia and was the youngest of nine children born to the late Alexander Hamilton Stephens and Annie Kate Newnan Stephens.
Her family moved to Moreland, Georgia when she was young, and she grew up on the farm which was on a road named for her father. At the age of 12, she set her life on a course that would be consistent with her beliefs and was baptized at Moreland Baptist Church.
Nina attended school in Franklin until her family moved to Moreland where she graduated high school. Like many of the women of her day, she took advantage of the opportunities offered by International Playtex and was in their employ from 1954 to 1993. In her diligence in her work, she took a business course at Carroll Tech. As in all details of her life, she was significantly involved in the good of the company, and the relationships she made there would be a part of her life going forward.
It was during the time she worked for Playtex that she met one of the young men who kept all of the machines running in the plant. In 1972 she married Jimmy Kidd and for the next 52 years, they wrote a wonderful life story of devotion to each other, their families, and their friends. Nina never forgot from whom all of her blessings flowed and if there was a need by family or friend for anything from a meal to transportation, she would make every effort to be available and fill that need. There would be ample opportunity for her to practice her faith in her own large family and in her dedication to Jimmy's parents as they aged. She truly possessed a servant spirit.
In addition to her parents, Nina was preceded in death by her siblings Theo Stephens, Minnie Lucy Haines, Paul H. Stephens, Ray S. Stephens, Buford "B.G." Stephens, Edward A. Stephens, Rayford S. Stephens, and Frances Stephens Moore. She is survived by her husband Jimmy C. Kidd. There is a large extended family of nieces and nephews.
The exemplary life of Nina Kidd will be honored in a service to be held on Monday, March 18, 2024, in the McKoon Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 PM. Clergy will include Tony Sullivan, Gary Boyd, and Dan Roberts. The visitation with the family will be at 1:00 PM.
