Nina Lee Larson of Sioux Falls passed away peacefully on January 5, 2026, surrounded by her family.
Services will be held January 9, 2026, at 10 AM at Heritage Funeral Home in Sioux Falls. Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery. After the interment, the family would like you to join them for refreshments at Heritage Funeral Home.
Nina was born on June 9, 1938, in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Verna Jackson and James Hendricks. Nina received her education in White Bear Lake and was a graduate of the University of Sioux Falls in 1960.
On June 29, 1963, Nina was united in marriage to Roger Harold Larson at First Baptist Church in Sioux Falls. This marriage was blessed with three children JoAnn (James) Tilden, Deborah (James) Swier, and Bruce (Kodi) Larson. Nina and Roger resided in Luverne, Minnesota and later moved to Centerville, South Dakota and later to Sioux Falls. They shared 35 years of marriage.
Nina was a teacher in Luverne and a Daycare provider during their time in Centerville. She moved to Sioux Falls to be near her daughters after Roger’s passing. Nina was a member a of First Baptist Church Sioux Falls for 70 years and often volunteered at Sanford, First Baptist Church, and Active Generations.
Nina enjoyed traveling, singing and embroidery. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren, and friends. Her children remember her as a vibrant woman who was active and enjoyed life.
Nina is survived by her 3 children JoAnn (James) Tilden, Deborah (James) Swier, and Bruce (Kodi) Larson; Grandchildren Jacob Swier, Trevor Tilden, Elizabeth Tilden, Jessica Tilden, and David Larson; great grandson Jimmy Swier.
Nina is preceded in death by husband Roger Larson; parents Verna and James Hendricks; siblings Betty Baskwil and James Hendricks; grandchild Marie Swier; great grandson Layne Swier.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Nina’s name to First Baptist Church 1401 S Covell Ave, Sioux Falls, SD.
