Shannon – Nina "Darlene" Reeves passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, November 9, 2025 after battling cancer on and off for 4 years. She was originally from Pontotoc County, but lived many years in Lee County. She was a Mom, Grandmaw, and Great-Grandmaw. She was a registered Nurse employed by North MS Medical Center Home Care/Nursing Home in Pontotoc for 25 years and Samaritan Gardens for 1 year. She loved taking care of others and loved cooking and helping to care for kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids.
She loved the Lord, roses, red/wine-colored things, cruises, vacations to the beach, swimming, Elvis's songs and playing with the kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. Along with nursing she loved outdoors, chicken farming, driving tractors and just being outside. Since the cancer got worse she was not as active outside as she would have liked to be. In her words, "I hope and pray the family will continue to cling together and have Thanksgiving and Christmas meals and be happy, prosper and lead a life for the Lord and teach the kids about Jesus and take them to church".
She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Palmer and father, Thurmon Palmer, Jr., sister Renelda Alexander; brothers Roger Palmer, Ray Palmer, Rodney Palmer, Robert Palmer, Randy Palmer and son Tim Reeves.
Survivors include her husband of 37 years, James Lloyd Reeves; children, Jenifer Moore (Charles "Bubba"), Cynthia "Cindy" Thomas (Donnie Reeves), Garry "Kojack" Waldo (Marsha), John "Jay-J" Waldo, Rebecca "Bec" Davidson (Johnny), Glenn Reeves, Susan "Sissy" Reeves Caygle (Steve), and Thomas "Bubba" Reeves (Candace); 2 sisters, Debbie Alexander and Charlene Rodgers; brother, Ricky Palmer and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
A Life Celebration will be at 2 PM, November 30, 2025 at her daughter's, Rebecca, home, 147 Baldwyn Avenue, Shannon, MS. All friends and family are invited to attend.
