Nita Delores Huene N. CHARLESTON - It is with deep sorrow and a heavy heart that we mourn the passing of Nita Delores Huene, age 71, of North Charleston. She peacefully passed away in her sleep on March 20, 2023. Delores was born with her twin sister, Rita Marie, on 8/11/51 and adopted by Estill "Fuzzy" Barnett and Evelyn Stanley Barnett of Walterboro, where she graduated Walterboro High school, class of 69' and later reunited with her brothers and sisters of the Cox family that made it a mission to find Nita Delores and her twin Rita Marie and were able to become very close. Delores was a kind, thoughtful, and outgoing soul and will be missed and remembered by the many lives she touched. Her family and friends hope she is playing the piano or listening to Elvis tunes as she passes through the heavenly golden gates and admiring the blissful clouds and beautiful flowers as she passes by. We are happy that you are home free and painless. We will always love and miss you until we can meet again. She was an active member of Doorway Baptist church, and a volunteer at Summerville Medical Center following her retirement with the Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services. Delores is lovingly remembered and survived by her husband of 33 years, Steven, daughter, Stephanie [Jared] Windham, and was "Nana" to two precious grandsons, Jase and Theodore. She is preceded in death by her sisters, Rita Marie Hiers, Mary E. Mucklevaney, Janie Rogers Crosby and brothers, Jimmy W. Cox, Henry B. Cox, Marion W. Cox and Raymond T. Cox, James A. Cox, Keith W. Cox and a special cousin, Shirley A. Broach. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, 3/25/23, between 1-3 pm at Simplicity Lowcountry Cremation and Burial services, North Charleston location where flowers and memorials can also be received.
