With love and remembrance, we celebrate the life of Nitza Fargas Escalera, born on April 14, 1960, in the beautiful city of San Juan, Puerto Rico. A loving, resilient, humble, and loyal soul, Nitza was a shining beacon of strength and grace that lit up the lives of everyone who knew her. As a mother, wife, grandmother, and friend, she personified the essence of unconditional love, respect, forgiveness, and the importance of family unity.
Nitza resided in Springfield, Massachusetts, but her heart always held a special place for her beloved Isla del Encanto, Puerto Rico. She was a dedicated bus driver for Sweet Transportation, LLC, where she not only drove routes but also drove her life with unwavering devotion and commitment. In her free time, Nitza found joy in simple pleasures. She loved manualidades (crafts), jardineria (gardening), and pasear (strolling), hobbies that reflected her creative spirit, connection to nature, and joy in life's journey.
Nitza's life was a testament to resilience and love. She leaves behind broken hearts, including her devoted husband, Ramon Vargas; her beloved sons, Neftali Rivera, Pedro Rodriguez and David Rodriguez; her cherished daughter-in-law, Deborah Fuentes; adoring Thirteen Grandchildren and Four Great-Grandchildren, and an extended network of brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, godchildren, and friends. As an illustrious author once said, "The best portion of a good person's life is her little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and love." Nitza's legacy of love, respect, and forgiveness will live on, continuing to light the way for those who follow.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Catalino Fargas and Evarista Escalera. Nitza's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with threads of love, resilience, humility, and loyalty. We invite you to share your memories, stories, and photographs of Nitza on the memorial page, to celebrate and remember this extraordinary woman who touched so many lives. Nitza Fargas Escalera, a precious jewel who graced our lives, will forever be remembered and missed.
Services will take place on Thursday, March 21, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and Friday, March 22, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, at Puerta Del Cielo® Funeral Home, 730 state Street, Springfield, MA, followed by her burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, 426 Bay Street, Springfield, MA.
