Porfirio Peguero

It is with heavy hearts and loving memories that we announce the passing of Porfirio Peguero, a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Born on December 6, 1942, in La Caleta, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Porfirio lived a life characterized by love, humor, and an undeniable spirit of resilience. His infectious laughter and quick wit brought joy to all who were fortunate to know him. Fearless and steadfast, Porfirio was the rock, the reliable beacon of strength that family and friends leaned on during stormy times.

Porfirio had a distinguished career as a Machine Operator & Assembler at the renowned Smith & Wesson factory in Springfield, Massachusetts, where he dedicated over 20 years of service before his retirement. Off the clock, he was an avid fisherman, a nimble player of poker, dominoes, and pool, and a spirited supporter of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. He also showcased his athletic prowess on the Caguas Stars and Los Bones softball teams, where he was an exceptional outfielder. Yet, amidst all these pursuits, what mattered most to Porfirio was his family. His love for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was as vast and as deep as the ocean he loved to fish.

Porfirio's legacy is carried on by his loving children, Yaszmiyne Peguero, Gladys Montanez, Trey, and Jacqueline Nuñez; his son-in-laws, Jason, Juan, and Leonard; his siblings, Pablo, Alsenia, Mariluz, Marino, and Isidra. He also leaves behind 11 cherished grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, each a testament to his loving influence. Porfirio was predeceased by his parents, Gregorio and Cristina; his devoted wife, Ramonita; and his siblings, Gregorio, Altagracia, Monsa, and Enrique.

Porfirio's passing leaves a void that can never be filled, but his spirit lives on in the laughter of his loved ones, in the stories shared, and in the strength and love of the family he cherished above all else. His was a life lived fully, fearlessly, and with a generous dose of humor.
