MANCHESTER, TENNESSEE – Mr. Noah Dossett (N.D.) Melton, age 86, passed to his heavenly home on December 13, 2024. He was born on born January 5, 1938, in Cannon County, and his family moved to Manchester when he was just a baby. In 1960, he met and married the love of his life, Karen Kauffman Melton. Noah was a devoted husband, father and Poppy who always put his family first. As someone once told his daughter, "Anybody can be a father, but you have a Daddy."
Noah was a faithful Christian who loved The Lord and was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Tullahoma. He loved getting up early and reading the Bible. He read one of his bibles cover to cover at least 4 times, to the point he had to put duct tape on the spine just to hold it together.
He worked most of his life as an electrician and retired from Sverdrup at AEDC. Noah was the kind of man who couldn't sit still and liked to be busy working or tinkering all the time. He could build or fix just about anything and was probably the handiest guy you ever met.
Noah also continued farming on the side over the span of his life. To say he had a green thumb is an understatement. That man could grow anything from a seed or just a cutting of a bush. Like his brothers and sisters, he also had the Melton sense of humor and enjoyed laughing and kidding people.
Noah was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63-1/2 years, Karen Kauffman Melton; parents Homer "Pat" and Clara Blair Melton; and siblings Robert "Brown" Melton, Homer Melton Jr, Gracie Fann, Alline Cooper, Pauline Alford, Cornie Melton, Chalmus Melton, and Lendsley Melton.
He is survived by his daughters Jane Melton and Jeanne (Gregg) Ball; granddaughter Nikki Ball; and sister-in-law Ann Melton, all of Manchester; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and countless friends.
Visitation with the Melton family will be held Saturday, December 21, 2024 from 10:30am until memorial service time at 12:00pm at Central Funeral Home with Brother Jim Parks officiating. Burial will take place at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to Grace Baptist Church in Tullahoma or Trinity Baptist in Manchester.
