AUGUSTA, MAINENoella Barker, age 99, died Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at the Maine Veterans Home following a long illness. She was born in St. Benoit, Canada on December 17, 1926 the eldest daughter of 13 siblings of the late Alphee and Irene (Veilleux) Rodrigue.
Mrs. Barker attended Schools in Canada , moved to
Augusta, ME in July 1946, and was a communicant of St. Augustine Catholic Church.
Noella worked at Bates Mills for 16 years then moved to Dover , NH where the family lived for 10 years before moving back to Maine.
She had been employed for 27 years at Kennebec Valley Medical Center in Augusta, during that time was also an Avon Lady, then retired.
Mrs. Barker was a member of the St. Paul's Charismatic Movement and St. Paul's Cursillo and Wisdom which took her on a pilgrimage to Majorca.
She served as a Eucharistic Minister for several years at St. Augustine.
Noella was a champion on her bowling league and loved working in her garden and every summer enjoyed the blooms and the birds.
Sewing was her forte, making quilts for all the family members and Halloween costumes for the kids,
Knitting was also a passion, hats, scarves, mittens were made for all family and friends, she often donated up to 20 pairs of mittens a year to the Home for Little Wanders. She loved taking care of her family and giving back as much as she could.
She was pre-deceased by her parents, husbands David Barker and Ernest Bouffard, her four brothers: Roland, Rene, Normand and Jean Rodrigue and a step daughter, Debbie Lacroix.
Mrs. Barker is survived by her sons: Richard Laliberte of Lancaster, PA and Raymond Laliberte of Augusta; her daughter, Nicole Hamlin and her husband Scott of Augusta; four step children: Ron, Reggie and Bobby Bouffard and Patsy Gosselin; six sisters: Jeannine Beland of Augusta, Louisette Dostie and her husband Gilbert of Merrimack, NH, Claudette Poulin of Augusta, Monique Raymond of Deerfield Beach, FL, Ann Aube of Sabattus and Theresa Aube of Hallowell; five grandchildren: Angela Hamlin, Katy Bidwell, Alexandria Laliberte, Marc Laliberte and Merideth Laliberte; five great grandchildren: Ethan Desnoyers, Crusoe Morgan, Finn Morgan, George Bidwell and Liam Laliberte. Roger Laliberte her children's father, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins and sisters in law.

Relatives and friends may visit on Thursday 1/29/26 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, 1/30/26 at 11 AM at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Northern Ave., Augusta. Burial will be in the spring in Holy Family Cemetery, Townsend Rd., Augusta.
Noella's extended family meant the world to her, being the oldest of them all she took pride in keeping tabs on, and our clan together after her parents passed.
Rodrigue family reunions are events we all look forward to and seeing the multiple generations together is priceless.
