Nona Thomas

Nona LaVerne Thomas, a cherished mother, grandmother, and lifelong resident of the Oak Hill community, passed away peacefully at her home in Broken Bow, Oklahoma, on Friday, December 12, 2025, at the age of 87.

Born to Sam Houston and Cora Elviney Brogdan Johnson on September 30, 1938, Nona dedicated her life to her family. As a homemaker, she found her most important role and greatest joy in nurturing her loved ones, embodying the definition of a devoted mom and grandma to all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, W.L. Thomas, Jr.; her parents; one daughter, Debra Westbrook; her brother, Coy Johnson; and her sister, Hazel Tate.

Nona's memory is cherished by her loving family. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Jeffery McGee of Sachse, Texas; her brother, Theron Johnson of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; and her four grandchildren, Jena Nelson, Ryan Westbrook, Erin Cook, and Ty McGee, seven great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. at the Watson Memorial Cemetery in Oak Hill, Oklahoma, with Brother Jimmy Westbrook officiating. No visitation is to be held.
