Alma was born and reared in Murphy, NC, before moving to Hixson, TN in 1974. She was employed by W.R. Grace for 20+ years. She was a member of McCarty Baptist church and truly loved the Lord all of her life.
As an accomplished square dancer and clogger, Alma met, and later married her husband Jack who was a fiddle player in a blue grass band. They spent many happy years traveling to, and enjoying, music, square dancing and clogging festivals throughout the southeast. She spent her last years as a resident in Bradley Healthcare and Rehab in Cleveland, TN. Alma suffers no more on this earth and no doubt is in Heaven with our Lord.
She was preceded in death by parents Ernest and Icey Stiles, husband Alvin Taylor, brother Lloyd Stiles and sister Dean McDonald of Murphy, N.C., sister Wilma Seabolt of Kennesaw, Ga. and grandson Matthew Ryan Darnell.
Alma is survived by her husband, Harold Jackson Ivey from Trenton, GA, daughter Sharon Denise Darnell (David) of Chattanooga, TN, and son Michael Keith Taylor of Cleveland TN.
sisters, Jearlean Holbrooks of Dawsonville, GA and Doris Robertson (Richard) of Murphy, NC.
She is also survived by her granddaughter Abby Callahan (Chris) and great granddaughter Lucy Callahan of Chattanooga, TN and granddaughters, Lauren Liles and Mae Clanton (Cody,) and great granddaughters Chloe, and Millie of Cleveland, TN.
She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and their children.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM EST at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel, in Hixson, TN, on Thursday, December 11, 2025 with Rev. Dale Wilson, CFO of Pentecostal Theological Seminary in Cleveland, TN officiating. The visitation will begin at 1:00 PM. Interment will immediately follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
