Nora Heraghty Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cornell Memorial Funeral Home on Jan. 26, 2026.
Nora Heraghty (O'Toole) passed away peacefully on January 22, 2026, at Danbury Hospital. She was born on February 21, 1936, in Portacloy, County Mayo, Ireland, to the late Mary O'Toole (McGrath) and Rodger O'Toole.
Nora was a devoted Mother and Grandmother, and her life was filled with love for her family and devotion to her friends, whom she had many.
She worked hard for much of her life to enrich the lives of those around her, and the most precious to her, her children. As time passed, her love for family grew with the arrival of Grandchildren, great-grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, all of whom came to know Nora's generosity, her kindness, and her ability to listen to you as if you were the only person in the room.
It's hard for us to imagine life without Nora. So well caught up on the doings and coming and goings of all her friends and family here and in Ireland, Nora remained connected, available, with welcome conversation in hand and wisdom to share.
All of us, her family, her friends, will miss Nora, but our love for her is forever.
She is survived by her beloved children: Patricia Heraghty; Roger Heraghty and his wife, Debbie; Michael Heraghty and his wife, Kathleen; and Chris Heraghty and his wife, Donna. She was a cherished grandmother to Erin and Joseph Calamari, Tyler, Eamon, Mairead, Sam, Emma, Zackary, and Brody Heraghty, Sean (Maggie), and Shannon Simonsen (Chris). She was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Jonathan Mazzeo, Kiera McCann, Roland, Daniella, and Anastasia Simonsen.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Wednesday, January 28, from 4:00-7:00PM at Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 29, at St. Edward the Confessor Parish in New Fairfield at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow immediately at Gate of Haven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.
