Norbert A. "Norb" Ebensteiner

Norbert A. "Norb" Ebensteiner, age 81, of Sauk Centre, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 surrounded by his family at his home near Sauk Centre, Minnesota. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 10 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Tim Wenzel officiating. Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre and 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at the upper gathering area at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Norbert Anton Ebensteiner was born November 12, 1934 in Sauk Centre, Minnesota to Edwin and Rose (Bieringer) Ebensteiner. He married Shirley Welle on February 13, 1956 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Meire Grove. Norb farmed for almost 20 years. After farming he did road maintenance up until 1998. Norb then had Ebensteiner Tree Moving until 2011. He loved the outdoors and gardening. For the past 16 years Norb and Shirley would spend their winters in Mesa, Arizona. He enjoyed playing cards, especially the game "Solo." Norb also liked to play the accordion in his spare time for entertainment. Norb was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, Our Lady of Guadalupe in Queen Creek, Arizona, and Fraternal Order of Eagles. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Ebensteiner; children, Nancy (Thomas) Silver of Glenwood, Jane (Duane) Ebensteiner-Berns of Sauk Centre, and Carol (Jim) Von Wahlde of Sauk Centre; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and sisters; Dorothy (Howard) Rajdl of Park Rapids and Marcy (Gary) Sequin of Brainerd. Norb was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Ebensteiner in October 1987; son-in-law, David Thieschafer on April 18, 2011; parents, Edwin and Rose Ebensteiner; parents-in-law, Erwin and Alma Welle; and sister, Marion Hedquist. Serving as urn bearer will be Michael Thieschafer. Cross bearer will be Trish Bushard and scripture bearer will be Kayla Backes. Honorary bearers will be Norb's grandchildren.
