Norbert M. “Norb” Belter, 84, Athens passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 9, 2025 while under the compassionate care of St. Croix Hospice at Athenian Living, Athens.
He was born August 25, 1940, in Poniatowski, son of the late John and Mary (Schaetzl) Belter.
For many years Norb was a dairy farmer in the town of Rietbrock. Some of his favorite pastimes included playing cards, especially Sheepshead, bowling, gardening and fishing. Norb was an avid Brewers fan right up to the end and will always be remembered for his love of ice cream.
Survivors include his sister, Pat Stasek, his sister-in-law, Sue Belter, his nieces and nephews, Todd, Allen and Steve Belter, Tammy Kornack, Audra Brooks, Sarah Greil, Jason, John, Andy and Matt Belter, Daniel and Mark Dvorak, Karen Gebhardt, Kevin Dvorak, Jeff Ludkey, Terri Wiederhoeft, Jay and Jody Ludkey, Greg Belter, Doug Stasek and Mary Johnson and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, George and David, his sisters, Gert (Ray) Dvorak and Marcie (John) Ludkey, his brother-in-law, Roger Stasek, his nephew, Jeff Ludkey and a niece, Lynn Belter.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 22, 2025 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Poniatowski. The Rev. Alan Wierzba will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Wausau is in charge of arrangements.
