Heather Smith Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Herman-Taylor Funeral Home - Wisconsin Rapids on Feb. 3, 2026.
Heather L. (Wiese) Smith

Heather Smith, 41, Wisconsin Rapids, went to Heaven on February 2, 2026, after a long battle with cancer. Heather was born on March 22, 1984, to Martin and Gail (Anderson) Wiese.

Heather was a devoted mother to her son, Jeremy, and her bonus daughters, Jenessa and Lexi. Heather worked tirelessly to give them great memories. Heather planned trips, concerts, escape rooms, and they had many nights spent together laughing and enjoying each other's company.

Heather's passion for crafting, camping, playing Pokémon Go, and mini golfing brought joy to those around her. She was notorious for her love of the simpler things in life, like chicken tenders, pepperoni pizza, and inappropriate jokes. Her enthusiasm for board games created countless cherished memories. Many laughs were shared, with Heather's always being the longest and loudest. All too often Heather would need to be reminded of quiet time while camping, so that she wouldn't wake a sleeping toddler or be asked to leave the campground for violating quiet time.

A lover of all animals, Heather held a special place in her heart for her cats, and any otter she came across. Whether stuffed, animated or real, Heather always took time to appreciate otters. She even went so far as vacationing in Georgia so she could swim with otters!

As a beloved elementary school teacher, Heather touched the hearts of hundreds of students with warmth, kindness, and dedication. You would be hard pressed to find a teacher more committed to her students. She strived to provide a loving and nurturing classroom. Too often, Heather would be the last teacher to leave the school, long after her peers had made it home to their families. There was no such thing as too much time for "her kids." Heather was also loved and admired by her peers. Many would make their way to her room for some candy and a squish. She had a talent for organization, and helped others any time they asked. She loved unconditionally.

Her legacy lives on through the lives she touched and the laughs she shared. Heather's spirit will forever be remembered, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a beloved daughter, sister, mother and friend. Heather's kind heart and larger than life laugh will live on with her family, friends and loved ones.

Heather showed unbelievable strength and perseverance through an extraordinary battle. She set an example for how to live life, to love your friends and family, and most importantly to take time to smile, laugh, and hug the people that matter. Her favorite saying was, "It is, what it is."

Heather is survived by her parents, Martin and Gail Wiese (Athens), son, Jeremy Heqet (Wisconsin Rapids), bonus daughters, Jenessa (Fiancé, Alex) Smith (Eagle Lake, MN), Lexi (Fiancé, Gavin) Smith (Eagle Lake, MN), brother, Brian Wiese (Merrill), and many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Alden and Alvera (Jasmer) Anderson and Reinhart and Mildred (Schmidt) Wiese.

Heather's family and friends would like to thank Dr. Asquith and Nurse Jodi, The House of Dove, and Colleen Smith for their exceptional care.

A celebration of Heather's life will be held at a later date.
