Norbert Joseph Dreps Jr.

With deep sadness we announce Norbert Joseph Dreps Jr., 79, passed away peacefully on February 24th 2026 surrounded by family. Joe was a loving husband and dedicated father. He leaves behind cherished memories and lifelong friendships.

Joe was born in Portsmouth VA on January 4th 1947 to Neil Hope Carr Dreps and Norbert Joseph Dreps. He graduated from Portsmouth Catholic Saint Paul's High School in 1965 and went on to earn his Bachelors degree from Old Dominion University and his MBA from the University of Oklahoma.

Joe was a fixture in Hampton Roads Commercial Real Estate Banking for decades most recently working for Monarch then Towne Bank. Following Retirement he was appointed to the Chesapeake Bay Preservation Area Board.

Joe loved playing golf and organized annual golf trips for his friends. He was passionate with his support of Old Dominion Monarch sports. He had a flair for fun and his friendships.

Joe was predeceased by his parents Neil Hope Carr Dreps and Norbert Joseph Dreps and his sister Jennysue Dreps Mott. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Halmai Dreps, son Andrew Neil Dreps, sister Marianne Reidy Alexander and her husband William Alexander, his nephew Micheal Mott Jr. and his wife Patti Mott and their daughters Madison and Morgan.

There will be a Celebration of Life at the Cavalier Golf & Yacht Club on Thursday March 12 at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to ODAF the Old Dominion Athletic Fund.
