Norbert Theodore Lindauer 88, passed away Tuesday, Feb 24, 2026, at his home in St. Henry, Indiana. Norbert was born Oct 26, 1937, to Leonard & Rosa (Sermersheim) Lindauer on a farm in St. Henry, Indiana. Norbert retired as a tenon machine operator from Kimball International’s Jasper Corporation after 41-years. He was an avid gardener, homebrewer, wine maker, sports history fan, and sports enthusiast, especially the St. Louis Cardinals and IU Basketball.

Norbert was united in marriage to Cecilia Ann Wood on June 30, 1962, at Our Lady of Hope (formerly St. Simon’s) Catholic Church in Washington, Indiana. They had seven children together and lived in their St. Henry home for over 60 years.Norbert attended the St. Henry School and Holland High School where he would have been in the graduating class of 1956 had he not left school to work on the family farm.Norbert was a lifetime member of Christ the King Parish at St. Henry Catholic Church and served on the parish council over the years. He was a board member of the St. Henry Water Corporation from 1982-2022, a longtime board member of the St. Henry Parks Dept, and a 50-year member and 40-year president of the St. Henry Catholic Knights of America (C.K. of A.). He was a member of the American Legion serving as honor guard for many veteran funerals, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the St. Henry Community Club where he served as treasurer on the 1962 St. Henry Centennial Committee.Norbert served in the Indiana National Guard from 1960-1966. He was a Boy Scout Leader for his sons in the 1970’s.Norbert loved to be competitive. Sometimes playing cornhole, washers, or euchre. He was known for gathering friends for an afternoon basketball game at the St. Henry School grounds. He played on the St. Henry Indians Baseball team. He was a player/coach for all St. Henry softball teams for 40 plus years. At the age of 75 he pitched against men younger than half his age. He would often say that he was born with a ball in his hand.

Surviving family are his wife Cecilia, sons Chris “Batman” of St. Henry, Indiana, Brian (Terry Baker) of Manchester, Maryland, Patrick (Mary) of Keller, Texas, and Scott (Patti Bell) of Buda, Texas. Daughters Kimberly of Huntingburg, Indiana, Mary Beth (Wes) Johnson of Pewee Valley, Kentucky, and Michelle (Barry) Weisman of Evansville, Indiana. They have five grandchildren: Steffen and Grace Lindauer, Zach Johnson, Brandon and Natalie Weisman, two step-grandchildren Sarah Bell (Christopher Brannen) and Andrew Brinkman (Jazmin Gomez), one step-greatgrandchild Lucas Brannen, one brother Wilfred (Dorothy) Lindauer of St. Henry, two sisters-in-law Mildred Lindauer of Fort Branch, Indiana and Phyllis Lindauer of Booneville, Indiana. He leaves many nieces and nephews.Norbert is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Fr. Prosper, Linus, Joseph, Edwin, and Martin, and sister Rita Niehaus. Sisters-in-law Sally and Mariettta Lindauer and brother-in-law Albert Niehaus.

Visitation will be held at St. Henry Catholic Church on Sunday, March 1st from 4-8:00 PM ET, and again on Monday from 8-10:00 AM at the church. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 AM ET on Monday, March 2nd. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to any youth sports program or Heart to Heart Hospice Foundation https://www.htohhfoundation.org/donation.org/donation
