Norene Goettsch, 81, of Sioux Falls, SD died February 12, 2026. A Visitation will be held 4-7 PM, Monday, February 16, 2026, at Faith Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, with a Celebration of Life 9 AM, Tuesday, February 17, 2026.
Norene Ann (Beck) Goettsch was born October 11, 1944, in LeMars, IA to Kenneth and Irene (Casper) Beck. She was raised in Hinton, IA, graduating from Hinton High School in 1962.
She was married to James Edward (Ed) Goettsch on May 23, 1964. Norene met Ed on a blind date arranged by mutual friends. To this union two children were born. She received her Registered Nursing degree in 1977 from Western Iowa Tech. She and her family loved to travel. Her most favored trip was to Israel, but many fond memories were made on family road trips. Norene loved to bake. She was well known for her fabulous cinnamon rolls. For many years, she and Ed volunteered at Sioux Falls Lutheran School, Meals on Wheels, and Faith Lutheran VBS.
She is survived by her children, Timothy (Kristen) Goettsch and Jane (Todd) Taylor, three grandchildren, Cassandra Goettsch and James and Emma Taylor, and one great grandchild, River Starch. Sisters Bonnie Oldaker and Marla Polly of Sioux City, IA and Kay Fortner of Crisfield, MD, Sister-in-law Laura Beck, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Ed of 58 1/2 years, brother Kent Beck, sisters Yvonne Beck and Gayle Burnett.
Memorials may be directed to Sioux Falls Lutheran School, 6715 S Boe Ln, Sioux Falls, SD 57108.
