Norma Ann Combs, 88, passed from this life and into eternal rest on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at Frank Wells Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Norma was the daughter of Fred and Maybelle Davis Mann, born in Jacksonville on July 9, 1937. She attended Andrew Jackson High School. In 1954, she married the love of her life, Maxie Franklin Combs, and together they raised three sons, Jimmy, Michael, and Clint.
Ms. Norma worked for thirty years with Southern Bell (Bell South) until her retirement. Outside of work, she enjoyed tending to her yard and flowers. For her twenty-eighth birthday, Maxie purchased her a piano and she learned to be a skilled pianist. She loved to play and sing, and music was a common bond for the Combs family. Mr. and Mrs. Combs were founding members of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Macclenny and attended there for many years. Above all else, Norma was proud to be a devoted wife and caring mother.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Orson Mann; and her husband of sixty five years, Maxie Combs.
She leaves behind her three sons, Jimmy (Kathy) Combs of Macclenny, Michael (Denise) Combs of West Jefferson, North Carolina, and Clinton (Anita) Combs of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Debbie (David) Byrd, Lindsay Combs, Eddie Reed, Laura Lakey, Matthew Combs, Anna Grace Combs, Dalton Hatcher, Austin Hatcher, and Jared Hatcher; sixteen great grandchildren; a sister, Linda (David) Edwards of Callahan; and a great host of extended family members and close friends.
A celebration of Ms. Norma’s life will be held Saturday, October 25, 2025 at Emmanuel Baptist Church at 1:00 PM with Pastor Mike Ramondetta and Rev. Ray Mayfield officiating. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 12:00 PM and interment will follow at Cedar Creek Cemetery.
The staff of Guerry Forbes Funeral Home is honored to serve the Combs family during their time of loss.
