Norma J. Elvidge, age 85, of Troy, PA, passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at UPMC Williamsport, in Williamsport, PA. She was born on April 18, 1939, in French Asylum, PA, a daughter of Silas and Lucinda (Buckford) Mason. Norma was the wife of the late William "Bill" F. Elvidge, with whom she shared 55 years of matrimony before his death on July 11, 2013. She worked as a veal farmer, had been employed at Westinghouse, and as a bus driver for the Troy Area School District. Norma was the past president of the South Creek Lions Club, a member of the Troy Bowling Association, the CB Club, and the Trail Dusters. She enjoyed horseback riding, quilting, gardening and camping.
Norma is survived by her daughters, Ellen (Wayne) Baldwin of Troy, PA, and Audrey Cole of Tioga, PA; grandchildren, Bernard (Danette) Cole, Ryan Cole, Nathan (Alisha) Cole, Roth Baldwin and Reid Baldwin; nine great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; brother, Martin Mason of Elmira, NY; sister Mildred Bristol of Troy, PA; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jackie and Carl Whitehead of Laraysville, PA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bill; a son-in-law, Bernard Cole; a sister and brother-in-law, Florence and Leland Knellar; sister, Adeline (Francis) McCormick Payne; sister and brother-in-law, Irma and Edward Chapman; brother-in-law, Stuart Bristol, sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Lincoln Stahle, and sister-in-law, Toni Mason.
Friends and family are invited to call from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and crematory, Inc., 637 S. Main St., Mansfield, PA. A funeral service will immediately follow at 3:00 P.M. A private burial will take place in North Union Cemetery, Canton, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Norma's name to the Hospitality Inn at UPMC Williamsport, 802 Campbell St., Williamsport, PA 17701, or to South Creek Lions Club, 32749 Route 14, Gillett, PA 16925. www.buckheitfcandcrematory.com
