Norma Isabel Falcon

Norma Isabel Falcon, 85, died March 27, 2023 with her daughters by her side and on FaceTime in Corvallis, OR.
Norma was born on September 13, 1937 in Montevideo, Uruguay to Jesus Falcon and Maria Paula Sorgo, both immigrants from the Canary Islands and Italy respectively. She met and married Artigas Mrak, but was widowed and lost her parents a few years later. Dreaming of a better life during government oppression in her country, she immigrated to the United States with her 3 daughters in tow and another soon on the way. She and her family eventually settled in Houston, TX where she rose from secretary to Vice President of the international arms of various large banks focused on clientele in Latin America, while simultaneously raising her 4 daughters largely as a single mother.
Having enjoyed traveling extensively, she spoke multiple languages and worked as an interpreter for the courts and hospitals after retirement. She really relished meeting different people and discovering diverse cultures. In her later years she devoted much time volunteering as a beading, knitting, crocheting, embroidering and ikebana instructor at her local community center in Houston and continued over Zoom during the pandemic after moving to Oregon in 2018.
She is survived by her four daughters, Norma Mrak, Nayade Mrak, Gabriela Mrak-Downing, and Cynthia Pereira; grandchildren, Holden and Mackenzie Mehaffey; step-daughter, Michele Caldwell.
