Ernest Dominic Bugarin Sandoval

Ernest Sandoval, age 94, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 1, 2025 in Corvallis, OR.
Ernest was born in Benicia, CA to Marcial P. Sandoval [1897-1991] and Micaela (Bugarin) Talamantes [1898-1975]
Ernest is remembered as a father, an educator and a long-time member of the American Legion of Cottonwood, CA. He graduated from California State University Sacramento, followed by University of Oregon and Oregon State University with a master's in education. On February 11, 1956, married Lou Ann Hawes in Cottonwood, California at St. Anne's Church. He is survived by his children: Lia, Edward, Lynette and Eric; 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Ernest taught elementary, high school and community college. At Yuba College he taught mass communication for 17 years until retirement. He often commuted from the family ranch in Anderson to Yuba City with his Cessna 150 airplane. Lifelong commitments to education provided Ernest with the ability to help others help themselves who in turn help others. Throughout his life, Ernest was proud of his contributions to the American military during World War II which included electrician's mate service in the US Navy.

There will be a Holy Funeral Mass for Ernest Sandoval at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Corvallis, OR on Friday, November 14, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. with a Rosary starting 30 minutes prior to Mass. Reception to follow.
A visitation will be held Thursday, November 13, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at DeMoss-Durdan Funeral Home in Corvallis.
A private burial will be held at a later date and Ernest will laid to rest in Millville, California.
