East Lawn East Sacramento MortuaryPatricia Holmes Lux April 3, 1941 – November 1, 2025
Patricia “Pat” Lee Holmes Lux, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 1st at the age of 84.
Pat was born on April 3, 1941, in Belmond, Iowa, to Lyle and Evelyn Holmes. In eighth grade she and her family moved to North Highlands, California, where she attended both Grant and Highlands High Schools. Pat attended American River Community College and went on to earn a degree in English from Sacramento State University, later completing a master’s degree in Counseling at Sacramento State. In 1961, she had the honor of being a Sacramento Camellia Festival Princess. Pat met Jerry Lux in high school, and they were married in 1963. After living in several locations within California, they eventually settled in Fair Oaks to raise their family. For many years, Pat devoted her talents and compassion to students as a school counselor in the Sacramento area. She served at Sunrise Elementary, Rio Americano High School, Del Campo High School, Skycrest Elementary and Bella Vista High School, and also taught college-level courses through American River College and Laverne University. Pat was known for her ability to guide students academically while offering a safe and caring presence as they navigated life’s challenges. She was cherished by her students and deeply respected by her colleagues.
Family was always the center of Pat’s world. Whether hosting lively Christmas gatherings, cheering at swim meets, or driving to countless sports practices and games, she found joy in every moment spent with loved ones. She treasured family trips to Capitola, camping adventures, and vacations on Cape Cod—especially when joined by her grandchildren. A gifted seamstress, Pat delighted in creating puppets (and staging puppet shows) and sewing imaginative Halloween costumes.
Pat is survived by her son David Lux and daughter Amy Andreasson; daughter-in-law Jen Lux and son-in-law Steve Andreasson; and grandchildren Mattie, Abby, Fletcher, and Nate. She also leaves behind her husband of 35 years Jerry Lux; and siblings Kathy Stansfield, Tom Holmes, and Debbie Holmes.
Pat was predeceased by her parents, Lyle and Evelyn Holmes; and her brothers, Butch, Dick and Jim Holmes. Pat will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love of family and community. Services will be held on Friday, November 21, 10:00 am at East Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery at 4300 Folsom Blvd, Sacramento. Reception immediately to follow.
