With heavy hearts but deep love, we share that Pam Weiler, 73, of
Albany, OR-our beloved spouse, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend-passed away, surrounded by love, at her home on November 2nd. She brought light, laughter, and service to all those around her. The daughter of William and Sara (Lee) Husebye, she was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota. She grew up in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, where she attended Trinity Lutheran Church and graduated from what is now Memorial High School before earning her bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin–Stout. She began her teaching career in Marshfield, Wisconsin, before moving to Oregon in 1977. There, she started teaching at South Albany High School, married Robert Weiler on March 25, 1978, and later received her master's degree from Oregon State University. Pam taught many business classes over the years-including Retail, Marketing, American Consumer, and Business Entrepreneurship-before retiring in 2006 after 30 years of teaching.
Throughout her tenure at South Albany High School, she ran the school store, dedicated countless hours as the DECA Advisor taking students to State and Nationals, was active in the NEA, and, toward the end of her career at South, started the Mr. and Miss Rebel Pageant, which raised over $115,000 for Doernbecher Children's Hospital through Kids Making Miracles.
In retirement, Pam's service to her community continued. She was a substitute teacher throughout the Albany School District for over ten years, belonged to the Oregon Retired Educators Association, taught brain health awareness at the public library to senior citizens, and spent her later years volunteering for OLPH St. Mary's Catholic Daughters of America and the P.E.O. Sisterhood (Chapter O), an organization dedicated to the advancement of women through education.
Above all, Pam loved her family, friends, and the Oregon Ducks (Basketball, Softball, Football, and Baseball). She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She had a way of showing love that made everyone-including family, friends, and students-believe in themselves. She told you what she saw: that you were worth it, you were loved, and you could be the best version of yourself. Now she is in heaven as the best version of herself.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Casey Weiler; her parents, William and Sara (nee Lee) Husebye; her parents-in-law, Thomas and Lucille (nee Remitz) Weiler; her brother-in-law Jim Jacunski; her sister-in-law Therese Ubrig (nee Weiler); and her brother-in-law Ed Altmann.
For those she left behind, we have the deepest grief but are so blessed to have had her beautiful smile in our lives. She leaves behind a loving family, including her dedicated husband of 47 years, Robert (Bob); her daughter Erin (nee Weiler) Courtney; her son-in-law Don Courtney; two grandchildren, Emma Courtney and Dru Courtney; and her chosen family through love: Vanessa (nee Ogden), Nathan, Keilani, and Leila Welu.
She is survived by her brother Terry (Marci) Husebye; her sister Vicki (Darcy) Fields (nee Husebye); her sisters-in-law Lois Altmann and Mary Lou Jacunski (nee Weiler); her brothers-in-law Don (Cheryl) Weiler and Al (Kim) Weiler; and many loved cousins, nephews, and nieces.
There will be a celebration of her life at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 5th, at Saint Mary's (Our Lady of Perpetual Help) Catholic Church in
Albany, Oregon, with a rosary before at 10:30 a.m. and a meal to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Pam's honor to the P.E.O. Sisterhood Chapter O through Fisher Funeral Home or the Catholic Daughters of America OLPH St. Mary's Chapter at:
CDA Court 1461, OLPH St. Mary, 815 Broadalbin St SW,
