Norma Girdler Obituary

She was born on June 25, 1952 in Somerset, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late James Edwin Sears and Dorothy Mae Burton Sears. She attended Somerset High School and began her extensive career in the food service industry working at Food Fair Store and Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital for several years prior to her retirement. Norma was a loving, kind-hearted, caring and generous wife, mother and grandmother. She was of the Baptist Faith and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Somerset. Norma enjoyed cooking and became very proficient at it. She also enjoyed scrapbooking, listening to gospel music and spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband; Lonnie E. Girdler, whom she married on April 5, 1969 at the First Nazarene Church in Somerset, a sister; Oreida Freeman and three brothers; Jimmy Sears, Zane Sears and Sammy Sears.
She leaves behind to cherish her precious memories are her loving children; Timothy Gene (Jennifer) Girdler, Edward Alonzo (Donna) Girdler and Jillissa Gail Girdler (Richard Kelley) all of Somerset, her siblings; Robert (Trottle) Sears of Ohio, Lemuel Sears of Tateville, Kentucky, Steve and Deirdre Sears of South Carolina, Mike (Vanessa) Sears, Frank Sears, Wanda Sears Harbour and Joan Norton all of Somerset, Kentucky, grandchildren; Katelynn Girdler, Ethan Girdler and Andrew Girdler and Joseph and Brittany Anderson; and five great-grandchildren; Trenton Crabtree, Treydon Crabtree, Willow and Wesley Brown and Layton Anderson, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 18, 2025 in the Chapel of Somerset Undertaking Co. A Celebration of Life Service will be at 1:00 pm in the Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tyler Ford Officiating. Interment will be in the West Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland, 100 Parkway Drive, Somerset, Kentucky 42501. You may also offer condolences and sign the Online Tribute Book at www.somersetundertaking.com
