Norma F. Goecke, age 96, went to her Heavenly Father on August 12, 2025, at Rolling Meadows Senior Living in
Carroll, Iowa. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 20, at St. John Paul II Parish~Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. The Lector will be Christie Sundrup. Gift Bearers are Jacob Beste and Joshua Beste. The Casket bearers are Jacob Beste, Joshua Beste, Brian Berg, Doug Broich, Jim Goecke and Bernie Hansman. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, where Norma will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Jerry. A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll with a Rosary at 7 p.m. Additional visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday at the church. Norma was born January 25, 1929, to Joseph and Christine (Leiting) Berg on a farm near Arcadia, Iowa. She attended St. John's Catholic School and graduated from Arcadia High School in 1947. On April 25, 1950, Norma was united in marriage to Jerome "Jerry" Goecke at St. John's Church in Arcadia. Together they built a loving home filled with faith, laughter, and devotion, raising four children-Steve, Sharon (Cox), Craig, and Carla (Beste). Norma embraced her role as a wife and mother wholeheartedly, pouring her love and energy into her family every day. Faith and community were the cornerstones of her life. A devoted member of St. John Paul II Parish, Norma served faithfully in the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court St. Rose of Lima #6, for over 60 years. Before moving to assisted living, she stayed an active and joyful part of her church community, always ready to lend a helping hand. Her quiet strength, generosity of spirit, and steadfast faith touched countless lives. Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; her son, Craig; her parents, Joe and Christine Berg; her parents-in-law, Frank and Elizabeth Goecke; her siblings, Don (Della) Berg, Robert Berg, Jerry Berg, Dean (Linda) Berg, and Ron (Lorna) Berg; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Ronald Sundrup, Melvin (Ann) Goecke, Floyd Goecke, Bonnie (Cliff) Lynam, Doris (Jerry) Broich, and Mary Ann Gute; as well as nephews, Frank Gute, Cliff Lynam Jr., and Randy Berg. She is survived by her children, Steve Goecke, Sharon Cox, and Carla (Rick) Beste; her grandchildren, Jacob Beste and Joshua Beste; her siblings, Helen Sundrup, Vern (Pat) Berg, and Jim (Paulette) Berg; sisters-in-law, Marie Berg and Jane Goecke; and numerous nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory.
