Norma Gordon of Brighton Beach (LBI), NJ passed away peacefully at her home at the age of 96 on August 6, 2025. Not only was Norma the matriarch of an extended loving family, but she was the matriarch of her neighborhood, where she entertained her many friends and neighbors over the last thirty years.

Norma was born to Norman and Audrey Gibson on December 27,1928 in Philadelphia, Pa. She grew up in Edison, NJ, at a time when she and her father could ride horses through the open fields. After graduating Highland Park High School, she attended Mercyhurst College in Erie Pa. and enjoyed a brief career as a stewardess for TWA airlines. Along with her husband Leonard, she raised their family in Metuchen, NJ., while also enjoying a long career establishing and managing the administrative team for the pathology lab at JFK Medical Center. Among her many hobbies, Norma was an avid tennis and Mets fan.

Predeceased by her husband, Leonard Gordon in 2008, Norma is survived by her son Gary and his wife Janine, daughter Jolie Hamilton and her husband Robert Jerome, sons Daniel and Thomas. She very much enjoyed her grandchildren and their families, which included Michael Gordon and his wife Meghan, Kyle Gordon and his wife Christine, Allison and Grace Gordon, Meryl Hamilton and her husband Ryan McCarty, Lucy Freund and her husband Brian, along with her great-grandchildren Abigail, Everly, Owen, Maisyn, Shea, Cliff, Pearl, Aubrey and Brian.
