Norma Gray

Norma J Gray passed away at the age of 94 on Dec. 8, 2024. She was the daughter of Leo and Ethel Vermilya and the wife of Alan L Gray, who passed away in July of 1994. She loved the nickname given to her by Alan, "The Shimmy Queen of Bowling Green." She was born and raised in Bowling Green, Ohio and graduated with a Master's degree in Education from Bowling Green State University. She taught 2nd grade for 30 years at Heatherdowns Elementary School in Toledo Ohio and kept in touch with some of her students for years as she enjoyed corresponding with them.
She moved to Florida in March of 1994 and never wanted to move again, staying in her home even during every hurricane, and enduring the inconveniences. With her charming personality and wit, she made friends easily and enjoyed every one of them. She will be missed by all, especially her family, but she is now at peace with Alan (the love of her life), her sister Dorothy and her mother and father. She is survived by her 2 sons, David and Douglas and his wife Susan. She leaves behind 8 Grandchildren: Jasen, Kristy, Leslie, Kelly, Scott, Travis, Brian and Deirdre, along with 15 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers or cards, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital, an organization she wholly supported.
