SHELBY- Norma Hamrick, a beacon of love and resilience, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026, in her hometown of Shelby, North Carolina, at the age of 83. Born on December 7, 1942, Norma's journey on this earth was one marked by strength, grace, and an unwavering devotion to her family.
Throughout her life, Norma embodied the true spirit of familial dedication. Though her path was not without its challenges, she faced each day with courage and an open heart. Her legacy is woven into the lives of those she leaves behind, offering a testament to the profound impact of her gentle and nurturing spirit.
Preceded in death by her son David "Dave" Truett, her daughter Angela "Angie" Wright-Diaz, and her parents, Grady Peeler and Novella Brown Peeler, she is now reunited with those who have gone before her.
Those left to cherish Norma’s memory include her devoted son, Chris Truett, and his wife Gloria, her granddaughters, Danielle Orr and Cierra Hyland, along with her great-granddaughter, Novee Orr, who will continue to carry forward her legacy of kindness and compassion.
In accordance with Norma's wishes, there will be a private family service at a later date. As her family honors her request for simplicity, they invite all who knew her to celebrate her life through cherished memories and shared stories.
Norma Hamrick's journey was one that inspired many, and her light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
