Norma Jean Hast, age 91 of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Monday morning, October 23, 2023 at the Rosewalk Assisted Living in Indianapolis.
Norma was born on October 17, 1932 in Evansville, Indiana, a daughter of Walter H. and Hazel Marie (Clark) Nester.
Norma married John Forest Hast on April 26, 1950 in Evansville, Indiana. He preceded her in death on August 8, 1979.
She is survived by her four children: Linda Sue Stonehouse of Lewisville, North Carolina, John (Wendy Weaver) Hast of Mooresville, Indiana, James Hast of Philadelphia, Indiana, and Debbie (husband Denny) Craig of New Palestine, Indiana.
Grandchildren: Christopher Stonehouse, Nathan (wife Stephanie) Hast, Drew (wife Stacy) Hast, Jeff (wife Chrissy) Stonehouse, Adriane Hast, and Alex (Tyler Harshaw) Craig.
Great grandchildren: Lydia Stonehouse, Kemp Stonehouse, Coleton Hast, Vanessa Hast, Aidan Hast, Isaac Hast, and Carter Hast.
She is preceded in death by her parents and husband both mentioned above and one sister: Ruth Abshire.
Norma was a beautiful woman, definitely one of a kind and adored by many.
She loved to play cards and fish. John and Norma enjoyed many fishing trips together on the Ohio River.
She was all giggles, stories and snuggles; the perfect grandma.
She loved life and if you just met her you were made to feel like you had known her all of your life.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
A visitation will be held on Friday, October 27, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park East Funeral Center, located at 10722 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46229. A brief service and time of sharing will follow at 7:00 PM with Chaplain Brent Wright officiating.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 1:00 PM (CENTRAL/EVANSVILLE TIME ZONE) at Alexander Memorial Cemetery, located at 2200 Mesker Park Drive, Evansville, Indiana, 47720, where Norma will be laid to rest with her husband John.
