Died: March 7, 2026 in Peru, IL
Norma J. (Thomas) Hoover, 94, of Peru, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2026 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Peru.
Memorial services will be held at 5:00 PM Friday, March 13, 2026 at the Mueller Funeral Home, Peru with Rev. Tom Redig, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church, Peru officiating. Additional services will be provided by the Illinois Valley Nurse Honor Guard. Burial will be in Peru City Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held 3-5:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Hoover was born September 15, 1931 in Carey, OH to Ralph and Elsie (Stahl) Thomas. She married Lawrence Hoover on December 28, 1957 in Columbus, OH.
Mrs. Hoover worked as a registered nurse at Illinois Valley Community Hospital in Peru for over 30 years. She loved to walk, play Rummikub, and play cards, including being active in three different Bridge groups.
Survivors include her husband, Lawrence; two daughters, Debbie Harris of Peru and Yvonne (Michael) Nichols of Carol Stream; a daughter-in-law, Michelle Hoover of Scottsdale, AZ; six grandchildren, Margaret (George), Andrew (Ashley), Gretchen, Kyle (Elizabeth), Grant, and Calvin; five great-grandchildren, Tenley, Parker, Michael, Natalie, and Grayson; one sister, Nancy; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Bradley Hoover; a son-in-law, David Harris; a grandson, Sam Harris; three brothers, John, Louie, and Winnie; and two sisters, Donna and Rose.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the American Heart Association.
