Norma J. Irwin, 72, of Genoa, Ohio passed away on Monday, June 30, 2025 at ProMedica Bay Park Hospital. Norma was born on March 22, 1953 in Toledo, Ohio to James T. and Wanda M. (Felter) Metroff.
On July 7, 1979 she married the love of her life, Joseph V. Irwin, Sr. Norma retired from Dean Foods, where she took pride in her work packaging ice cream. A generous and kind-hearted woman, she gave back to her community by volunteering at local food donation sites and was a proud member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 2984. Norma found joy in life's simple pleasures-she loved treasure hunting at garage sales and flea markets, crocheting handmade gifts, and working through puzzle books. She cherished long conversations with her family and friends, always keeping close connections through phone calls. Becoming a grandmother and great-grandmother was one of her proudest accomplishments, and the love she had for her grandbabies brought her endless happiness. Norma also shared a deep, lifelong friendship with her dear friends Diane, Nan, and Rhonda, a bond that remained strong and meaningful throughout the years.
Left to forever cherish her memory is her loving husband of 45 years, Joseph Sr.; son, Joseph (Melissa) Jr.; brother, James; sister, Karen; grandson, Joseph III (Baylee Adams); granddaughter, Chevy (Zak); great-granddaughter, Emersyn; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents; son, Wade Metroff; and brothers, Robert and George.
The family will receive friends at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road, on Monday, June 7, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Services at 2:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will follow at the VFW Post in Walbridge, Ohio. Those wishing to honor Norma's memory are asked to consider making a donation to the family, with contributions accepted directly through the funeral home.
