NORMA BAYLES Obituary

NORMA BAYLES 1942-2025 Central Valley, Utah - Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Norma Jill Tippetts Bayles, age 83, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025 in Riverton. Jill was born on September 29, 1942, in Delta, Utah to loving parents Reid May Tippetts and Mary Peterson. She cherished her childhood years, growing up on the farm in Sutherland Utah. Jill loved the outdoors, swimming in the canal and water skiing at the Delta Reservoir. She also really enjoyed working on the farm beside her father and her brother Reid Lee Tippetts. Jill's mother made sure that she learned to be domestic and cultured by providing her opportunities to take dance and piano lessons. Literature was a big part of her home life where poems and books were shared frequently. Jill graduated from Delta Highschool and later attended Brigham Young University where she was a member of the BYU women's swim team. In 1964 she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. It was here at BYU where she met her eternal companion, Dwayne Parker Bayles. Their engagement was short but their love for each other never ended. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Manti Temple on August 21, 1964. She and Dwayne started their lives together first living in Provo, then Douglas Arizona, after which they moved to Fillmore Utah, and then to Central Valley Utah where she resided for 49 years. Jill taught first grade until Dwayne finished his schooling. Although her teaching of children never ended, she chose to stay home with her children as a full-time mother and homemaker. She raised her five children to work hard and be honest and upright in all they did. She loved her family and found so much joy in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jill had an unwavering testimony of Jesus Christ and His gospel, dedicating her life to serving in His church. She served in many capacities, from primary pianist and chorister to Relief Society President, Young Women's President, Stake Primary President, Stake Young Women's camp director, Stake Humanitarian Specialist and as a Temple Ordinance worker in the Manti temple. She and Dwayne also served in the Utah St. George Mission as missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, where they touched the lives of many people. Her love for Jesus Christ was shown through her many acts of service and her love toward others. Jill loved her life and kept busy. She was a seamstress, a quilter, a gardener, a 4-H volunteer leader, a 4-H county and state fair judge, a piano teacher, a beautiful homemaker, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, a true friend and a devoted disciple of Jesus Christ. She will be missed by her children: Kurt Bayles, Evelyn (Conway) Chidester, Karalee (Jeff) Straw, Jerolynn (Jeff) Bergfeld, Parker Bayles; her grandchildren: Shaelynn (Bowen) Summer, Shaun (Stephany) Bayles, Christian (Brittaney) Bayles, Chellese (Robert) Moschowsky, Amanda (Colin) Webber, Arthur (Morgan) Chidester, Rebecca Chidester, Emmaline Chidester, Erynn Chidester, Maryssa Straw, Josh Straw, Kalee Straw, Jarom Bergfeld, Damon Bergfeld, Logan Bergfeld, Eliza Bergfeld, Porter Bayles, and her great grandchildren, Mason Summer, Malachi Summer, Saylor Summer, Maverick Summer, Beau Bayles, Joanie Bayles, Hudson Bayles, Gunner Bayles, Annora Webber, Rhys Chidester. She will also be missed by her brother Reid Lee (Marsha) Tippetts. Jill was preceded in death by her beloved husband Dwayne, her parents Reid and Mary Tippetts, her brother Joseph, a granddaughter Chelsea, a great-grandson Garrison and her daughter in law Wendy (survived by Kurt Bayles). Funeral services for Jill will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, November 3, 2025 in the Central Valley LDS Ward Chapel. Viewings will be held from 6-8:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 2, in the Springer Turner Funeral Home, 260 North 400 West in Richfield, and from 9-10:30 A.M. at the ward chapel the morning of the services.
