Obituary published on Legacy.com by Vander Plaat Funeral Home - Wyckoff on Sep. 24, 2025.
It is with both sadness and joy that we celebrate the peaceful passing of Norma Murray on September 23, 2025, just short of her 99th birthday.
Norma was born on October 3, 1926 in Udine, a small town in the foothills of the Italian Alps. She emigrated to the United States by ship as a toddler along with her mother, Liberata Pezzutti and brother, Santo Pezzutti, to join their father, Augustino Pezzutti, who had established himself as a stone mason breadwinner for the family in the New World.
Over time, the Pezzutti family children and grandchildren became well known in the New Jersey art community, and Norma was no exception. Beginning with floral design and gardening at a florist and at home, she went on to become a volunteer to teach others at Garden Clubs in Paramus, Ridgewood, Brielle, and Brick, including the Bayberry Garden Club and Laurelton Art Society, achieving numerous awards along the way. Following the premature passing of her husband Charlie Murray in 1994, she expanded her artistic horizons turning also to canvas and jewelry making as an expression of her artistic abilities. Together with her artwork, it was the love of her life to get together as a family with her son Charlie, wife Susan, grandson Chris, wife Erica and great grandchildren, Camilla, Phoebe and Carys; son Rich, wife Susan and grandchildren Terah and Erica; and daughter Patricia Hurley, husband Pete and grandchildren Peter and Matthew.
In retrospect, her chosen Email handle of "FlowersMom" said it all, and her early 99th Birthday Party with the immediate family including brother Dave, just ten days before her passing, was both fortuitous and timely.
She is predeceased by her mother and father, husband, sister Theresa Sullivan, brother Santo Pezzutti, and is survived by her brother Dave Pezzutti and all her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
A memorial gathering will be held at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Avenue,
Wyckoff, NJ 07481 on Saturday, October 11, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM with a luncheon to follow at a restaurant nearby.
