Norma Padley Obituary
Norma Jane Padley, age 89 of Blue Springs, Missouri, formerly of Butler, Missouri died Saturday, December 6, 2025 at Cedarhurst of Blue Springs. She was born February 24, 1936 to Orville Zephaniah and Edith Jane LaFollette Smith in Butler.
Norma, one of two children, grew up in Butler, Missouri where she graduated from Butler High School in 1954. She worked in a dental office from 1954 to 1957, then with the Bates County ASCS until 1960. Norma married Jack Padley on August 23, 1959 and to this union, four children were born. She moved to Higginsville, Missouri, living there until 1992, working with the school district as a para and a cook, also Bucks Country Mart where she baked cakes. Norma moved to Willows, California until 1997 when she moved to Blue Springs, Missouri, remaining there until her passing. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Blue Springs.
Norma had a creative personality which was showcased through her sewing. She was a master seamstress, stitching love into everything from children's garments to quilts that were enjoyed by those who received them. Norma's artistry was also evident in the dishes that she made, each one being a tasteful masterpiece. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Norma nurtured and taught life lessons to her family. She enjoyed traveling, watching rodeos and tapping her heals to the rhythm of country music. Norma's kindness and loving guidance will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Norma is survived by two sons, Jim Padley and wife Janice of Blackburn, Missouri and Jeff Padley and wife Michelle of Buckner, Missouri; one daughter, Janet Padley and companion Tricia of North Kansas City, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Grady Short (Tabitha), Megan Leap (Brodie), Graham Padley (Amanda), Josh Padley (Emily), Elizabeth Padley, Brad Padley, Rae Padley (significant other Richard Harrington) and Geni Wier; and eight great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Wade, Gabe, Kennedy, Rhett, Owen, Addi and Regan. Norma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack; one brother, Wayne Smith; and one daughter, Jennifer Padley.
