Norma Rose Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lakes Funeral Home on Jan. 22, 2026.
Norma Jean (Turner) Rose was born on February 7, 1947, in Jackson County and departed peacefully at The Terrace Nursing & Rehab in Berea at the age of 78.

Norma was the daughter of the late Albert "Spunky" Turner and Ruby (Harrison) Turner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vester Rose; her son, James David Rose; and two brothers, Voyd Lee Turner and Kenny Turner.

Norma is survived by four children: Marty Rose, Doug Rose, Melissa Rose, and Lee Rose. Her sister Donna Faye Brockman. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Micah (Kylea) Rose, Stisha Shannon, Elizabeth (Nick) Magee, Justin Lakes, Brandon Rose, and Brittany (Derek) Cunigan; and her great-grandchildren, Kylee Shannon, Elijah Shannon, Skyllar Williams, Niyah Magee, Nevaeh Magee, Jude Rose, Acacia Rose, Mia Estridge, Jackie Rose, Remyngton Rose, and Silas Rose.

Norma Jean dedicated her life to serving her family. It was not uncommon to hear the coffee pot running before daylight and for the house to be filled with the aroma of homemade gravy and biscuits. She would work alongside her husband for countless hours in the tobacco field, come in to cook dinner, and still manage to keep her home immaculate. This she did faithfully.

Her love for the Lord was just as faithful as her love for her family. Norma gave her life to Jesus at an early age and loved attending church. She would often witness to her children and grandchildren about the goodness of God. She was a member of Kirby Knob Baptist Church.

Her family will miss her deeply, but the reassurance that she is with Jesus brings comfort to all who knew her.
