Norma Rose (Meshulam) Shorr, 90, passed away on November 16, 2025, in Carmel, Indiana. She was born on January 15, 1935 to the late Sol Meshulam and the late Anna (Nahmias) Meshulam. For 90 years, Norma was a force of nature. She shared insightful advice, a listening ear, and endless strength and wisdom.
Norma was the devoted wife to the late Leon Shorr, who passed away on October 26, 2013. They built a life filled with laughter, partnership, and deep affection. Together they raised three children, Steven, Howard, and Dori Ann.
She was a member of the Etz Chaim Sephardic Congregation.
Norma was a warm and spirited woman whose kindness touched everyone she met. She had a gift for making people feel seen and valued. Norma lived a life rooted in compassion, curiosity, and connection. Norma loved traveling with friends, she approached each journey in life with wonder and an open heart. At home she enjoyed gardening, a reflection of her nurturing spirit. She also cherished her time with the Cousin’s Club, playing and teaching Canasta, and spending time with her family and friends sharing stories and reminiscing. Above all, Norma was an amazing mother who loved her family deeply. She will be greatly missed.
Norma is survived by her children Steven Shorr, Howard (Eileen) Shorr, and Dori Ann (Edward) Diffley, and grandchildren Joey, Samuel and Alyssa. She leaves behind family, friends, and a community of people who were better for having known her. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched with generosity, humor, and unwavering love.
Norma's spirit remains vibrant. May her memory be a blessing and may those who knew her carry her light forward.
Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Etz Chaim Cemetery at 2:30pm.
Shiva will be held at Howard Irwin Shorr's residence on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, and Wednesday, November 19, 2025, from 6:00pm to 9:00pm.
