Norma Weaver
Mrs. Norma Jean (Thatcher) Weaver of
Newport, Arkansas, departed this life on Friday, May 2, 2025, at the age of 86. She was born September 17, 1938, in Amagon, Arkansas, the daughter of Louis and Anna (Largent) Thatcher.
On March 19, 1955, Miss Norma Thatcher wed Mr. James Anderson Weaver, and they spent fifty-three wonderful years together. Mrs. Weaver was a homemaker, always making sure her family and home were well taken care of. Mrs. Weaver was a member of the Balch Missionary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Weaver loved going shopping, decorating, and maintaining her home and yard. She enjoyed playing cards with her ladies' group and cherished the memories made with her friends. Mrs. Weaver was deeply charitable by supporting local and state organizations. She was always eager to give back to her community and help those in need. Above all, Mrs. Weaver's greatest joy came from her family and the time she spent with them.
Mrs. Weaver is preceded in death by her husband, James Anderson "Jimmy" Weaver; three brothers, Tuffy Thatcher, Dennis Thatcher, and Newman Williams; and her parents.
She is survived by her son, James Walker Weaver and wife, Donna, of Newport; two daughters, Cynthia Warren and husband, Mike, of Newport and Rebecca Sutterfield and husband, Mark, of Jonesboro; a sister, Naomi Weaver, of Sherwood; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Ritchie and husband, Clint, Adam Sutterfield and wife, Kasey, Anna Bowen, Lauren Simpson and husband, Aaron, Michael Warren, Jr., Courtney Sutterfield Wheeler and husband, Joe, and Jameson Weaver and wife, Stefanie; nineteen great-grandchildren, Addison Ritchie, Whitley Ritchie, Trey Bowen, Jackson Williams, Reece Williams, K.J. Simpson, Ella Jane Simpson, Lilly Simpson, Cam Weaver, Stetson Weaver, London Holladay, Haven Holladay, Caleb Wheeler, Connor Wheeler, Carter Sutterfield, Danny Drew Sharp, Chloe Sutterfield, Andersyn Sutterfield, and Maddux Lawrence.
Funeral services for Mrs. Weaver will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2025, at Jackson's Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Clint Ritchie officiating. Interment will be in Balch-Johnston Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday, beginning at 12:30 p.m. until service time.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Adam Sutterfield, Jameson Weaver, Michael Warren, Jr., Joe Wheeler, Aaron Simpson, Carter Sutterfield, Trey Bowen, Cam Weaver, and Jackson Williams. Honorary pallbearers are Mitchell Brannon, Charles Hess, Jimmy Heatherly, Scott Turner, and her caregivers, Susie Pierce, and Vickie Verzwyvelt.
