Robert Tucker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jackson's Funeral Homes Inc. - Newport on Feb. 4, 2026.
Mr. Robert Raymond "Bobby" Tucker of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at the age of 75. He was born November 14, 1950, the son of Ray, Jr. and Betty Sue (Bogle) Tucker.

Mr. Tucker graduated from Newport High School in 1968. He spent much of his life working with Union Pacific Railroad, where he proudly served as a Signal Maintainer for thirty years. Known for his strong work ethic, he also obtained a degree in electronics after completing a four-year program, furthering his knowledge and skills on the railroad. After three decades of service, he retired in 2000, proud of the work he had done and the career he built.

Mr. Tucker married the love of his life, Miss Jan Forrester, on July 10, 1976, and together they shared forty-nine years together. He was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church in Newport, where he enjoyed working with the youth. Mr. Tucker was active in World Changers, making a positive impact in the lives of individuals and communities with his support.

In his spare time, Mr. Tucker was always eager for an adventure and became a scuba diver and also enjoyed fishing. He spent time attending horse shows and was an active member of the Hillbilly Horseshow Association. Mr. Tucker was a lifelong supporter of the Newport Greyhounds and proudly served as their sideline manager for twenty years, a role that reflected his loyalty, dedication, and love for his community. He made a lasting impact on athletes and students alike. Above all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and cherished all the memories made together.

Mr. Tucker was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Margaret Dogle and Ida Tucker; and his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Jan Tucker, of the home; three sons, Robert Forrester Tucker and wife, Tina, of Wesson, Mississippi, Joshua Ray Tucker and wife, Shannon, of Charlotte, and Jared Lee Tucker and wife, Kim, of Southside; a brother, Mike Tucker and wife, Judith, of Gilmer, Texas; his sister, Becky Easter and husband, Gary, of Weiner; four grandchildren, Ashlyn, Cord, Raylee, and Ragen; many nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Tucker will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the First Baptist Church in Newport, with Bro. Greg Dills and Mr. Doug Moore officiating. Interment will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Friends may visit at Jackson's Funeral Home on Friday evening, February 6, 2026, beginning at 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Brent Lassiter, Dennis Haigwood, Rocky Smith, Joey Miller, Monty Ford, and Dr. Mike Brown. Honorary pallbearers are the members of Harold Erwin's Sunday School class and all past and present Newport Greyhound athletes.
