Norma Geraldine Wirth, 90, of Louisville, Kentucky, peacefully passed away on January 17, 2026. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Norma’s unwavering dedication to her family was evident in her strong work ethic, ensuring that her six children were well cared for and nurtured.
A passionate cook and caterer, Norma found joy in canning and culinary endeavors, always delighting those around her with her homemade dishes. Her deep faith in the Lord sustained her throughout her life, and she was a devout member of the Catholic community. Norma had a profound love for the outdoors, reflected in her beautiful gardening and landscaping, showcasing her renowned green thumb.
Norma was born on August 13, 1935, in Ammons, Kentucky, to Robert and Pauline (Mitchell) Arnold. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Martin F.L. Wirth; her daughter, Deborah Ann Gregory; her son, Joseph Eugene Elder; along with her parents, five brothers, and one sister.
She is survived by her loving family, including her children: William (Pamela) Elder, John Allen (Linda) Elder, Darleen Marie (John) Whalen, and Terry Louis (Susan) Elder. Norma also leaves behind her cherished sisters, Mary Jo Manning, Waunita Denny, Anna Rita (Sonny) Mayes; her brother, Gene (Connie) Arnold; as well as 19 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and a great-great grandson. She will be lovingly remembered by an extended family and a host of friends who were fortunate to know her.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, January 28th from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, located at 10304 Dixie Highway. A Funeral Service will follow on Thursday at 11:00 a.m., also at the Southwest Louisville Chapel, with burial to take place at Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.
