Norman G. Albert, 96 years old and a lifelong resident of Shirley, passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2023. Born on December 31, 1926, Norman was the son of the late Dominique and Marie (Joyal) Albert. He was a graduate of Stevens Business College in Fitchburg. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps, 1st Marine Division, during World War II, with duty in the North Pacific in China. After his discharge, he was employed with the Standard Pyroxoloid Corp. for 12 years where he rose to the position of Assistant General Manager. In 1951, Norman married Jeanette "Jan" Clouthier of Fitchburg who passed away on March 12, 2017, after 67 years together. He, with his father, built a home on Page Street in Shirley where they raised their 3 daughters. He later worked for the Massachusetts Correctional Institution in Shirley as the Fiscal Manager and retired in 1981. In 1983, he became a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Leominster; he served as head Elder for 5 years, Treasurer for 15 years; chairman of the Finance Committee for 15 years, and Sabbath School Teacher for 10 years. He served in several positions in Shirley including as a selectman for 12 years from 1967 to 1978. He was chairman of the Committee to restore plaques that honored those who lost their lives in World War I. In addition, he was Chairman of the War Memorial Building Renovation Committee. He was Commander of the American Legion, Post 183 in 1961, a member of the China Marine Association, and a member of the Marine Corps League. He wrote 2 books: "From a Boot to China Marine" and "United States Marine Corps Respect and Recognition." Norman is lovingly survived by his daughters, Sharon Slarsky, Sandra Pereira, and Janis Albert; seven grandchildren, Suzanne Slarsky Dael, Emily Richardella, Leanna Slarsky, Bryan Boucher, Alison Greer, Jeffrey Lambert, and Julie Lambert; eleven great-grandchildren, Sofia and Madelyn Richardella, Jackson, Nicholas, and Magnolia Greer, Rebekka and William Dael, Ian and Andrew LeFevre, David Lambert, and Evelyn Sharples.

There will be no calling hours. A funeral service will be held at the Seventh Day Adventist church in Leominster on Sunday, March 26 at 11:00 AM. A graveside service will be planned for April. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Norman's memory to the Cancer Fund at www.cancerfund.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to Anderson Funeral Homes, 25 Fitchburg Road, Ayer, MA. I will never forget Uncle Norman and Auntie Jan- they were people of character that only come along once in a life time, such loving, happy memories of them growing up and all thru my life. My heart is very heavy for their girls at this time , love them very much Debbie
