Norman Foster Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Voss & Sons Funeral & Cremation Services on Dec. 3, 2025.
Norman Dee Foster, 85, of Seymour, Indiana passed away on November 29, 2025 at Schneck Medical Center. Norman was born in Jennings County on November 19, 1940. He was the son of Lester Leon Foster and Lottie Irene (Hall) Foster who both proceed him in death. In addition to his parents, Norman was preceded in death by a baby brother, Stephen Foster, brother Duane Foster and a son, Judd Foster.
Norman graduated from Crothersville High School in 1958 and lived his entire adult life in Jackson County. He worked for Cummins for several years until he decided to turn his part-time logging work into a career in the sawmill business. He was the owner of a sawmill, small trucking company and operated excavating equipment for more than 30 years. After retiring, he worked part time at Fostech which he loved as he worked with his son, Judd and brother, Duane.
He was a passionate outdoorsman as he enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved being outdoors evaluating timber or operating his bulldozer. He enjoyed having a big softball game in the "ball field" or a family cookout on the river bank in "The Bottoms". There was no doubt, though, that his number one source of pride and joy was his family. He was married for over 65 years to his wife, Eileen, and was still holding her hand at the time of his passing. He loved his three children, 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren very much. He demonstrated and taught his family the meaning of a servant's heart and God's sacrificial love through the way he loved and provided for them. Norman was a member of First Marion Baptist Church for over 50 years. His family, friends and community were blessed by the contributions he made to them and the legacy he left in those he loved.
He is survived by his wife, Monie Eileen (Findley) Foster, a daughter Kim (Brian) Niewedde, a son, Todd (Kris) Foster, and Judd's wife (Sophi Foster). He was blessed with those 8 grandchildren; Matthew (Meagan) Niewedde, Jason (Tiffany) Niewedde, Adam (Lacey) Niewedde, Zachary (Katie) Foster, Nicholas Foster, Justin (Kailey) Foster, Sami (Ronald) Marte and Alex Foster as well as his 10 great-grandchildren; Emma, Colton, Brody, Tucker, Ronny, Mason, Annabelle, Carter, Fredrick, and Bruce.
A celebration of life service will be held at First Marion Baptist Church, 7730 W. Co Rd 850 S., Paris Crossing, IN 47270 on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. Friends are welcome to visit with the family from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Memorials may be given in his memory to First Marion Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 7730 W. Co Rd 850 S, Paris Crossing, IN 47270.
