Norman Olson Obituary
Norman D. Olson, Jr., 65, of Bristol, passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2025. He was born on November 27, 1959, son of Norman Sr. and Nancy (St. James) Olson. Norman was the loving husband of Donna (Jacques) Olson and have been together for 27 years. Norman was a dedicated employee of Stop & Shop, where he served as the seafood manager for 33 years before his well-earned retirement. Before joining Stop & Shop, Norman worked in construction, where his strong work ethic and dedication shone through in everything he did. Outside of work, Norman found great joy outdoors. He loved fishing, camping, and boating, activities that allowed him to spend quality time with those he cared about. Norman was also a passionate sports fan who never missed a chance to cheer on his favorite teams: the New York Jets, the Boston Red Sox, and the UConn Huskies men's basketball team. Norman is survived by his wife, Donna (Jacques) Olson of Bristol; stepson Jesse Paventi and his wife Leslie of Avon; brother Kenneth Olson and his wife Leslie of FL; sister Carol Abbott and her husband Rodney of Plantsville; grandchildren Felicia McDaniel and her husband Keith, Isabella Koupal, Layla Paventi; great-granddaughter Ellie; brother in law Jeff Jacques of New Hartford; several cousins and pet companions Pearl and Buggy. Calling hours will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025, at O'Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave., Bristol, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mesothelioma Cancer Community at www.mesotheliomacancer.org. With deepest sympathy Donna and family
Autumn is a time of preparation. The trees prepare for the long winter ahead by shedding their leaves, Gods creatures prepare for winter by storing food, going into hibernation, or seeking warmer climates.
Norman would have prepared in his own way, as he had done in years past. While many of his interests; fishing, boating, and camping would have to wait until the next season, he still had basketball and football to get him through the cold winter months.
His spirit and love will live on in the family and friends he leaves behind, and I´m certain the memories will be cherished by all the people he touched in his life.
We can be comforted knowing that he will always occupy a place in our humble hearts. And we can be grateful that we have been blessed to have known him.
