Norman Singleton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sunset Funeral & Cremation Services and Cemetery - North Olmsted on Jan. 25, 2026.
Norman Edward Singleton, age 87, of Cleveland, Ohio, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026.

Born on September 2, 1938, in Rosemont, West Virginia, Norman was the son of the late Gordon and Florence Singleton. His early years in West Virginia shaped his lifelong commitment to service, including his time as a volunteer fireman-an experience that reflected his instinct to step forward when others needed help.

Norman built a long and respected career as a Project Engineer with PPG Industries, where he dedicated more than three decades of skill, leadership, and steady craftsmanship. His talents extended far beyond his profession. A true handyman, he was happiest with tools in his hands-repairing, restoring, and improving anything he could. He especially enjoyed working on old sewing machines, collecting and bringing them back to life with patience and pride.

A devoted supporter of the United Methodist Church, Norman lived his faith through action. He participated in numerous mission trips, teaching others how to use tools, repairing homes, and offering his time and abilities wherever they were needed. His generosity was quiet but constant, and he touched countless lives through his acts of service.

Norman was a well rounded and accomplished man, yet he often said that one of his greatest joys-and his proudest accomplishment-was singing with Billy Graham's choir. Music, fellowship, and faith were threads woven throughout his life.

He is survived by his loving wife, Minnie Singleton; his children, Deena (James) Dailey, Norman Singleton II, Mark Singleton, and Allen (Diana Hlywiak) Singleton; his granddaughter, Wendi Wilkins; and his brother, Benson (Janice) Singleton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Barbara Philips, Exie Irons, and Dixie Jones.

Norman leaves behind a legacy of kindness, craftsmanship, faith, and service. Those who knew him will remember his steady hands, generous heart, and the quiet joy he found in helping others. May his memory be a blessing to all who love him.

Visitation will be held at Sunset Memorial Chapel, 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070 on Friday, January 30, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday, January 31, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., with funeral service to begin at 2:00 p.m. and burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Park, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070.
