Norman Worrell

Jun. 04, 1938 ~ Apr. 21, 2023

Norman Leroy Worrell was born June 4, 1938 to Joseph William and Elva Williams Worrell. He was born in Rexburg, Idaho Hospital and lived in Chester, Idaho. He grew up on a farm learning to work hard and play hard. When he was 23 he joined the National Guard and flew to Fort Ord, California for basic training. He was in basic training for 8 weeks and then was shipped to Fort Lewis, Washington and stayed there for four months. In the fall of 1961 the unit was called on active duty and went to Fort Lewis, Washington for about a year during the Berlin Crisis. Russia was going to take over Berlin but it didn't happen. In the summer of 1963 he went to summer camp for the guard at Lake Ponderey, Idaho. In November of 1963, he married Jaylene Marie Clifford in the Idaho Falls, Idaho temple. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year. He has seven children and lived on the farm in Chester, Idaho where he farmed, milked cows, and loved to plow snow. The country farm is the best place to raise children. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and held several church positions. He was on the high council where he would travel with his family for speaking assignments. He especially loved the assignments in Island Park speaking in the different camps. He loved the beautiful outdoors and loved visiting with people. In 1985 he re-located his family to Dillon, Montana where his family enjoyed serving the community by working in a video store. The format was new and people loved watching the movies. He was ward clerk for many years here. Once a year a huge family reunion is held in Chester, Idaho which is the highlight of our year. We love camping together and visiting around the campfire and enjoy being with our children and grandchildren. Norman loved being with his family. His first employment in Dillon was building India homes to put on the reservation. He then worked at J. H. Equipment as a salesman turning into manager. He later worked with his son Randy repairing appliances. He delivered newspapers for 20 years and then retired. During his younger years he enjoyed being on a bowling league and playing and coaching softball. He loved camping with his family and hiking the trails with Jaylene. Norman loved his family and friends and was kind to everyone. We will all miss him. He passed away April 21, 2023 at home surrounded by his wife and family. He is survived by his son Randy Worrell (Shannon), Daughter Ronda Stewart (Rob), son Neil Worrell (Noriedy), son Kevin Worrell, daughter Norlene Garton (Sam), and daughter Kimberly Jones(Michael). Nineteen grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren. Brother Kennie Worrell, brother Paola Worrell(Vena Rae), and sister Carma. He is preceded in death by his son Robby Worrell, grandchild Brandon, great granddaughter Kiera, brother-in-law Marvin Clifford, sister-in-law Julie Daley, and sister-in-law Jean Worrell. We want to give a special thanks to his Doctor Sandra McIntyre who has taken very good care of him during this time. We also want to thank the hospice care givers Gina, Janelle and Halie who came and were dedicated every day to make Norman as comfortably as possible. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 1, 2023 at the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 93 State Highway 91 S. Dillon, Montana. 10:30 Visitation with services at 12pm.
