Nunzio Anthony Leo, 86, of Murrells Inlet, SC, passed away on October 30, 2023, surrounded by family.
He was born on March 24, 1937, to Dewey and Luigina Leo of Paterson, NJ. After graduating from Eastside High School in 1954, Nunzio worked as a skilled draftsman for Singer Kearfott for 42 years, designing many items for the U.S. military. Nunzio served as a corporal in the Marine Corps Reserve. He also worked in his father's bowling alley and became an avid bowler, scoring a high game of 299 in 1961 for which he joined the 700 club! Nunzio loved sports and was a loyal fan of the Yankees and Jets.
Happily married to Marlene Leo for 37 years, the couple enjoyed summers camping at Pine Acres in New Hampshire with friends and family. They also took many cruises and vacations together and enjoyed good Italian meals with friends and family while listening to Frank Sinatra. They retired to Murrells Inlet, SC in 2003 to spend their final years by the beach and were active members of the Sons of Italy club.
Nunzio was a devoted and loving family man. He cherished spending time with his grandchildren and sharing stories of the past with them. He was proud of their accomplishments and enjoyed seeing them compete in sports.
Nunzio joins his wife Marlene (Diettrich) Leo and his parents in Heaven.
He is survived by his sister Christina (Leo) Avigliano and his brother Robert Leo, as well as his 4 children Cynthia (Leo) Lombardi and her husband Frank, Nancy (Leo) Budge, Steven Leo and his wife Michelle and Michael Leo and his wife Michelle; 12 grandchildren: Danielle, Frank, Dominic, William, Kristen, Timothy, Gina, Justin, Megan, Vincent, Samantha, and Maggie; 16 great grandchildren: Julia, Emily, Olivia, Stephanie, Gracie, Joseph, Michael, Alessia, William IV, Marina, Sebastian, Wesley, Maisie, Caden, Braden, and Riley; and 2 great great grandchildren: Milani and Kobe.
