Fukui Mortuary - Los AngelesIt is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Obinna Franklin Amobi at the early age of 38. Obinna, a beloved husband, father, and friend, was born on June 23, 1987, and departed from this world too soon on December 28, 2025, after a 3 year battle with stomach cancer.
Better known as Obi, he was a beacon of kindness, warmth, and patience. His demeanor was always calm and welcoming, making him a cherished friend within his community and a steady source of strength and love for his family. Obi effortlessly made life long friends from all stages of life. Growing up in his original home in Ontario, CA, he spent his childhood riding bikes around town, hanging out with friends, visiting Mt Baldy, running track in high school, and rooting himself in his Nigerian and Catholic community. He attended UCLA for undergrad, where he met the love of his life, and continued to dedicate himself to the University Catholic Community. After UCLA, he found his calling as an urban planner, and moved to Seattle to attend the University of Washington for graduate school. For the next 14 years, Obi made Seattle his home - growing his family and establishing his own roots. In addition to making new life long friends, and continuing his involvement in church, Obi was dedicated to his local community, as evidenced by his tireless efforts to develop affordable housing for hundreds of families.
Leaving behind a legacy of inclusiveness, gratitude, faithfulness, and patience, Obi's impact will continue to resonate in the hearts of all those whose lives were graced by his presence. He is survived by his treasured wife, Crystal Lin Amobi, and his three sons, Elijah (7), Samuel (5), and Jeremiah (3). Obi and Crystal's love story is one that will continue to inspire all who knew them. Obi also leaves behind his parents, Godwin Amobi and Celine Agbakwuru, his parents-in-law, David Lin and Anna Hsia, his sister, Chinyere Amobi (married to Dr. John Murillo III), and his brothers Dr. Ikechukwu Amobi (married to Dr. Crystal Amobi, with son Izuchukwu (3)); and Ugochukwu Amobi (married to Lana Amobi, with sons Leonardo (7) and Michelangelo (4)). Obi is also survived by his brother-in-law, Eric Lin (married to Kelly LeVasseur), and many loving uncles, aunts, cousins, and extended relatives.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, March 7, 11 a.m. at St Elizabeth Ann Seton Church 2713 S Grove Ave, Ontario, CA 91761.
